With late summer conditions on a famed fishery like Toledo Bend there is bound to be some incredible fishing. The 2025 Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series presented by Native Watercraft held its final event of the season here in east Texas recently with top anglers from across the country vying for a spot in the championship to be held next spring in Tennessee. There was also the excitement of crowning the 2025 Angler of the Year which was won by Abby Abbondanza of Pennsylvania. With plenty of big bass lurking this 185,000 reservoir, anglers could easily spread out and find out where their strength and skill will prevail.
